Introduction

LGS TeamConnect is enterprise application used by Apple Legal Team. In this application they can do eBilling, Matter Management, Investigation and IP Enforcement. It can be customized according to the requirement. It has many modules but Users will get only which are related to their domain. Based on related department request, Super user will give permission to the user to access related modules. I worked on couple of modules i.e., Matters, Case Management & Invoice / Approval

Requirement

Users need an improved user experience that aligns with Apple’s design ethos and supports their workflow effectively. Specifically, they want:

  • A modernized, Apple Look and Feel interface that is clean and intuitive.

  • Display of only important, relevant information without overwhelming details.

  • Capability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, such as bulk approving invoices.

  • Enhanced data visualization through graphs in applicable modules.

  • Customization and access control of modules based on user domain and permissions.

Users

Apple Legal Team members and attorneys who use the LGS TeamConnect enterprise application for tasks such as eBilling, Matter Management, Investigation, and IP Enforcement. These users have access only to modules relevant to their roles, granted by a Super User based on departmental requests.

Goal

To redesign the LGS TeamConnect user interface and experience to:

  • Deliver a visually appealing, minimalistic design consistent with Apple’s brand standards.

  • Streamline information presentation to focus users on critical data.

  • Facilitate multitasking and batch operations to improve user efficiency.

  • Integrate interactive graphical representations of key data to aid decision-making.

  • Ensure modular customization and permission-based access reflecting departmental needs.

Design Decision

  • Ground the redesign in a deep understanding of remote workflow needs, synthesizing input from legal professionals and system stakeholders to ensure relevance.

  • Prioritize user-centric design principles emphasizing clarity, simplicity, and efficiency that resonate with Apple users.

  • Audit the current LGS TeamConnect system to identify specific pain points, especially regarding event workflows in Case Management and Invoice Approval modules.

  • Embed flexible UI components that support bulk actions and multi-tasking without cluttering the interface.

  • Incorporate customizable dashboards featuring graphs and charts tailored to user roles, improving data comprehension and usage.

  • Maintain strict access control mechanisms via Super User permissions to show only assigned modules and features, enhancing security and user focus.

  • Align changes with Apple’s brand guidelines for digital design, ensuring a familiar and consistent aesthetic throughout the application
